CATS FOR ADOPTION

* We currently have some cats who are awaiting veterinary clearance and spay/neuter surgery before they can be placed up for adoption. If you're interested in adopting a cat please get in touch with us and we'll let you know what we have.

NOTE: Oxford County Animal Rescue does not allow any of our rescues to be declawed, as we feel it's an incredibly inhumane procedure. We may on occasion have cats that were already declawed prior to arriving at the rescue. Please do not apply for a cat if you intend to declaw.

Adoption Procedure:

Step One: Fill out the online adoption application. 3 Non-Familial references are required, as well as a current vet check.

Step Two: We will review your application, then contact you to arrange a meeting at our office space with your family member, the foster and the kitty. If you are not approved at this point, you will be informed.
You must be 21 years old to adopt.
To facilitate spay/neuter surgery at 6 months of age, priority will be given to applicants residing within a half hour of Woodstock.

Step Three: You meet the cat you're interested in adopting, and if you and foster feel it's a good fit, you may take your new best friend home with you at that point. An Adoption Contract is filled and the adoption fee ($160.00) is collected in cash. This will be marked on the adoption agreement.
Note: You must have a cat carrier to take the kitty home.

Please note: We have a very strict No-Declaw policy. None of our rescue cats shall be declawed after adoption.

*ADJUSTMENT PERIOD: Different cats have different behaviours and so have different adjustment periods. Some cats may adjust right away. Others may take at least two weeks. This can be especially true if other pets are involved. Adjustment behaviour may include vocalization (especially at night), door dashing, scratching furniture, not eating/overeating, hiding, personality conflicts with existing pets, etc.
